WonderSwitcher is now available for iOS and macOS
Testing your site on a real iPhone used to mean fighting with proxy configuration buried in Wi-Fi settings, hunting down credentials, and re-entering server details every time you wanted to switch locations. We've wanted to fix that for a while. Today we're doing something about it: WonderSwitcher is now available for iOS and macOS on the App Store.
Why VPN, not proxy
You might notice we're talking about VPN here rather than the proxy connections WonderProxy is best known for. That's intentional. While we believe proxies are amazing, they can't always be used: Safari's extension model doesn't support them, and they're a huge pain on iOS. Setting up a VPN, especially with our new apps, is much easier than fighting all that.
Not only does this help make testing Safari easier, it also opens the door to easily testing iOS or macOS apps themselves.
The iOS testing gap
iOS has been an important gap in our testing story for a long time. Automated testing frameworks have great WonderProxy support, and our browser extension covers desktop browsers well. But for interactive testing on an actual iPhone or iPad — tapping around, exploring flows as a real user would — the setup friction was real enough to slow people down or skip it entirely. iOS users are a significant and growing share of most companies' audiences, and we wanted to make sure testers could reach them as easily as any other platform.
What the app does
WonderSwitcher connects to your WonderProxy account and imports your servers automatically — no copy-pasting credentials, no manual entry of hostnames. It handles authentication for you creating a unique IKEv2 credential for the app.
From there, you can browse your full list of servers, search by location, and mark favourites for the ones you reach for regularly. Switching servers takes a few taps. The app is free for all WonderProxy customers.
Getting started
WonderSwitcher for iOS and macOS is available now on the App Store. If you're already a WonderProxy customer, sign in and your servers will import automatically.
